Why we don't hide the edges

Most kitchens spend a lot of effort hiding what they're made of — veneers, lacquers, edge-banding designed to look like something else. We build with birch plywood and leave the laminate edge exposed on purpose. It's structural, it's honest, and after a few years of cooking it looks better, not worse.

FSC-certified birch ply

Sourced from Baltic mills, every panel is certified and traceable back to the forest.

Cut & built in Bristol

One workshop off Days Road. Every panel is CNC-cut and hand-assembled on site — nothing subcontracted out.

Oiled, not lacquered

A hardwax oil finish that ages with use and can be re-oiled at the edges, not resprayed when it scuffs.

Colour, at the edges

Every front is painted to order. The ply edge stays natural.

How it works

Four steps, roughly eight weeks.

Design consultation

We measure up, talk through how the space actually gets used, and sketch a first layout on site.

Drawn & specified

A full cutting list and finish spec — ply grade, edge treatment and hardware agreed before anything is cut.

Cut & built in the workshop

Panels are CNC-cut, then hand-assembled and oiled in the Bristol workshop.

Fitted & settled in

Installed on site, with a return visit after a few months to re-oil the edges that see the most use.
